Travel grants

 

It is no longer possible to submit applications for travel grants. 

ISN Travel Grants (delegates from countries with emerging economies)

The International Society of Nephrology is pleased to offer a Travel Grants Program for ISN members to attend the ISN Frontiers Meetings 2018 'Kidney Disease and Cardiovascular Disease'.

The Travel Grant consists in a reimbursement of travel cost up to a certain amount (see below), including registration to the meeting and covering a maximum of four nights accommodation.

The meeting will offer a maximum contribution towards the travel costs to Tokyo, Japan based on economy class travel, first class train tickets and appropriate ground transportation. The available funding, if booked early, will be enough to cover the full travel expenses. Once confirmed, Travel Grants recipients are encouraged to book early not leave booking to the last minute.

Maximum amounts of contribution are based on the following: From Asia: a maximum reimbursement up to 100,000 JPY From outside Asia: a maximum reimbursement up to 200,000 JPY *The recipient will make his own travel and accommodation arrangements.

Reimbursement will be after the meeting in return for completed expense claim forms and copies of invoices/tickets/boarding passes. Completed expense claims have to be handed over at the registration desk of the meeting at the latest.

Only applications from the following are considered:

  • ISN members
  • ISN Fellows (past or present)

Priority is given to the following applicants:

  • Young nephrologists (40 years old or younger)

  • Nephrologists with an abstract accepted to ISN Frontiers 2018

  • Past/present ISN Fellows and Sister Renal Center (SRC) program participants

  • Those who have not received ISN Travel Grants before

Please note that a copy of the passport will be request to all successful candidates. If it will be not received by the communicated deadline the grant will be canceled.

The following documents must be provided with your application:

  • Curriculum Vitae

  • Photocopy of personal identification (passport/driver’s license)

Important Information: DO NOT REGISTER FOR THE EARLY BIRD RATE if you are submitting a Travel Grant Application! Should your Travel Grant application be unsuccessful, you will still be eligible to register at the early bird rate after the results are announced.

The travel grants are restricted to ISN members and SRC participants, priority is given to nephrologists who apply from low-and-middle income countries (as per World Bank criteria). Priority will be given to ISN members from developing countries whose abstract has been accepted.

No more than three Travel Grants can ever be allocated to any one individual. Therefore please note that applicants who have already benefited from three ISN Travel Grants to attend an ISN meeting in the past will not be eligible for this round.

ISN Frontiers Young Investigators Travel Grants (delegates from all region and countries)

ISN Frontiers Meetings 2018 is pleased to offer a limited number of award grants to young investigators who wish to make presentations at the ISN Frontiers 2018, which is held from February 22 to 25, 2018 in Tokyo, Japan.

Separately to the ISN Travel Grants, the congress will offer ISN Frontiers Young Investigators Travel Grants. High score abstracts from the ISN Frontiers Young investigators Travel Grants winners will be selected for the Young Investigator Award (YIA) oral session. The ISN is planning to give YIA winners to present their abstract at the WCN 2019 in Melbourne. The other granted delegates will be assigned for poster session. The number of grants is limited and the applications from candidates are reviewed by the local organizing committee.

ISN Frontiers Young Investigators Travel Grants selection results will be announced by November 21, 2017. Should your grant application be unsuccessful, you will still be eligible to register at the discounted early bird rate (deadline for the early bird rate is December 4, 2017).

The ISN Frontiers Young Investigators Travel Grant consists in a reimbursement of travel costs up to a certain amount (see below), including registration to the meeting and covering a maximum of four nights accommodation. In case your expenses exceeds the maximum amount of reimbursement, the meeting will not provide the supplement. Once confirmed, Travel Grants recipients are encouraged to book early and not leave booking to the last minute.

The amount of the grant is set as follows:

Delegates from Japan: JPY 30,000 yen
Delegates from China, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong: JPY 50,000 yen
Delegates from other Asia: JPY 70,000 yen
Delegates from outside Asia: JPY 100,000 yen
*ISN Frontiers 2018 Travel Grants accept application from all region and countries including high-income countries.
**The recipient will make his own travel and accommodation arrangements.

Applications are open to young investigators and only applications from the following are considered:

  • ISN members

  • Young investigators under the age of 40 year old

  • Those presenting abstracts
  • Those with knowledge and/or experience in the meeting topic

Priority is given to the following applicants:

  • Those who do not receive the ISN Travel Grants

* ISN Travel Grants and ISN Frontiers Young Investigators Travel Grant will not be given to the delegates redundantly
